  • My mother let me dress up in her fancy French designer clothes to take me to my first Opera in San Francisco, I was probably 8 years old. My folks' are NYers, while I was raised in the SF Bay area. I've been to operas in multiple cities across this country, and some in other countries as well... including going to Miss Saigon (even though it's known as a musical) in DC a couple weeks ago. What...

  • I've been an opera fan since childhood. One of my first favorite operas was "Aida". I can still remember my late father describing the story to me as a child, as we listened together to the Metropolitan Opera radio broadcast. I miss listening to the opera with my dad. Our all time favorite opera was "Eugene Onegin" by Tchaikovsky after watching the Russian film version made in 1959.

  • Faust all the way! My first experience with Opera was Handel's Semele. I remember really getting hooked on it because not only was it in English but it was about one of the Greek myths of which I was a fan of at the time. I love a lot of Gounod's operas. I'm not so much of a fan of the German ones but I like the French and Italian ones. Benjamin Britten's Turn of the Screw is another favorite.
